K & L Laminating

How we do it.

getting ready to laminate First the laminate film is perforated ensure the air can escape, (during the laminating process) avoiding bubbles.
Picture ready to be pressed After the film is applied to the piece being laminated, it is put into the press. This part of the process can take anywhere form 5 minutes to 1 1/2 hours.
Custom cutting the wood While the work is 'cooking', the wood is custom cut, to fit the piece being mounted. The wood is then bevelled and sanded for smooth edge. A slot is cut into the back so the picture can be hung with pride.
Final sanding before painting Once the work on the wood is fisished in the shop, it is washed to remove the dust. The glue is applied to the picture and then tacked to the wood and returned to the press. It will be there for about 6 minutes. Then it is placed face down on the glass table to cool.
Custom painting the edges After the wood has cooled, it is trimmed, re-sanded and hand painted with the colour of your choice, finished off with a coat of varnish to protect the edge.
The finished product proudly displayed Once all the work is done, the final product is ready for display.
